Electronic components for the automation of production

How many various production facilities exist, so many process automation equipment and devices are available. But the basis of equipment for the automation of production are programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and industrial computers. A programmable logic controller is an electronic device that is the main part of an industrial controller.

The PLC is oriented to work in the automated processes of industrial production. Since it works with machines, it is not equipped with any means of communication with people, such as a mouse, keyboard and display, but it is completed with input / output of various sensors and actuators. Often such controllers are used in control systems of CNC machine tools.

Industrial controllers

Automation equipment Representative of a large group of industrial controllers is the controller series CP1L from the company "Omron" - a multifunctional element of equipment for automation systems. The controllers of this series have the complete set of functions that are required to control machines or other equipment.

Models of this series are available with a different number of input / output points, they can be 14, 20, 30 or 40, if you use the expansion module, the number of points can be increased to 160. It is clear that increasing the number of points increases the number of sensors and actuators connected, consequently, the functionality of the controller. An external programmer which is connected via the USB port is used for programming, the same port is used to connect the monitoring system.

As controllers for the automated process control system, the following models are also used: UNO-2182 from Advantech, WinCon-800 series, industrial controllers of the SystemQ series from Mitsubishi. All these models are the most functional and can be used for the automation of process equipment and solve production problems of the highest level of complexity.

All industrial controllers are divided into three classes: programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS) and controllers, developed on the basis of PC technology. From small, to powerful and high-speed systems, PLCs can satisfy the most demanding ACS developers with virtually unlimited capabilities when working in control and monitoring systems. Modern PLC can handle both digital and analog signals, control servo drives of manipulators, high-precision stepping motors, solenoid valves.

High reliability allows the use of PLCs where processing of a large number of signals from external sensors is required. Programmable logic controllers allow you to quickly change the control algorithm. An important factor is the low cost of the PLC in comparison with other controls.
